Vintage. No box/papers. 

An elegant automatic IWC watch encased in 18KYG case with a decent 35mm width and curved spider lugs. We have just lightly polished it & the crown is a later replacement without logo but early watches were often unsigned so it's not a big deal on this.

The movement dates to 1952 and the case numbers to 1954 so this watch would've been sold after 1954 as it is common for movements to be manufactured and wait to be cased then sold.

The back cover snaps with a tight click & it shows a faint dimple dent that can only be seen if you turn it around under light reflection, and looked hard, otherwise it's negligible and a miniscule flaw on a very beautiful watch.

Have a look at the pictures & you'll see that there's not a sign of corrosion to the case while the movement is in excellent condition for it's age. The hands are original with a slightly aged patina & hour hand has a silvered mirror finish to it on the top side. The dial is an original but restored to the highest workmanship and it will fool most dealers but we are selling this as a re-dial. A pretty dial with Arabic numerals to the quarters and faceted daggers on the hours.

This watch has the in-house manufactured movement with Pellaton-winding system that collectors adore and only until recent years, revived by IWC again to look back into their heritage. About 13,000 of this movement were made between 1952 to 58. A small price to pay for a solid 18ct gold IWC as a modern steel Portofino will cost more than this watch.
