This gorgeous IWC has been completely restored. The case is polished and presents good as new with the bezel and back cover snapping tightly with a click sound. There's virtually no corrosion and no rust marks within the case joints which is amazing for it's age. The dial is professionally restored and original layout is similar to the much revered Calatrava style of Patek Philippe. The movement was stripped and serviced, hence the shine we see. Only flaw is the unsigned crown which were mostly unsigned of that period for most brands so it does not affect it's value much.

This is a very attractive model with a large 36mm case and elongated bombé lugs that magnifies it's size further. A steel cased dress watch from the early years is very desirable to collectors over solid gold as these lugs required welding to the case which is an acquired skill that many watchmakers avoid especially when steel has a higher melting temperature than gold. The dial, though restored is a classic beauty with the machined minute dots on it's circumference and in Explorer style.

According to records, this movement was made in 1948 and the case around 1955 which is normal as movements were usually made earlier and cased later for sale.

A very good watch for a start and one that can last for many decades to come.
