This vintage Rolex Datejust came to us as it is and we decided to leave it without a polish as the condition is 80% with light surface wear that compliments the vintage appeal. The Jubilee bracelet in steel is an early type, period-correct with folded links that are lighter and very soft but the buckle has been replaced possibly by Rolex in later years to a newer design which is common due to wear and tear. The original dial has aged beautifully with even blemishes across while the early batons in white gold are elongated, faceted and wedge shaped for the quarters, making it very attractive vs the latter dials with simple straight batons.

The case is in splendid condition with little to no signs of corrosion which is very desirable as it means constant maintenance and careful use throughout the last 48yrs. The in-house manufacture movement Calibre 1570 with 26 rubies shines as new and will continue to serve faithfully for many decades to come.

The 2 million serial nos traces it back to 1970 and the back cover confirms it with "II 70" being the 2nd quarter of 1970 manufacture.

Overall, this 1601 Datejust is a very desirable example with great patina. A timeless classic in this combination that will only continue to increase in value. It has an original bracelet worth over US$500 that can be removed in favour of leather straps which is very trendy now.
