About This Watch

Vintage. No box/papers.

This was the entry model for Rolex, the Ref.6694 served for a good 3 decades before calling it a day and all were fitted with acrylic crystal and a workhorse manual winding movement. It has the legendary Oyster case shutting out dust and moisture which safeguards it's movement and many are still serving their owners as a daily watch today. The date does not have quick-set function and power reserve typically lasts about 40hrs+/-.

This example dates back to 1969, it has been polished to factory spec and upgraded with some desirable options. It received an original thick Rolex Oyster steel bracelet which is worth several hundred USD alone. The dial and hands are face-lifted spec to "Porcelain" white with black Roman numerals which was a very popular option in the late 1990s as owners look to facelift their 6694. This is not an original Rolex dial for this model but it can be found on the automatic Datejusts or Date and it will not degrade this model nor affect it's value as the original 6694 dials were usually batons on sunray finished dials which were rather boring. Only flaw is a dot being punched onto the back cover within the track but not a bother at all.

Upon opening the back cover, we can see that the 17 jewels movement shines as new and case is in very good condition.

Overall a very good piece that will continue to serve you well for many decades to come as long as you take care of it.
