Vintage. No box/papers but a Passions pouch will be given. The solid 14K yellow gold oyster case has been carefully polished to a high gloss throughout by the previous owner & we left it as it is. There's no dents or any signs of deep scratches which is quite a delight. This watch is fitted with the "Super-Oyster" crown when Rolex introduced the non screw-lock crown using no rubber or leather gaskets except metal sleeves for water-resistance which was advertised as the "Phantom crown" due to many clients having problems with screwing & unscrewing the crown that we know today. However, it wasn't as capable to keep the elements out & this design lasted less than 5 years of production from the early 1950s. This system was designed to last at least 20 years and many such Rolex Oysters retain this crown till date after more than half a century.

This watch is completely period original except of course the strap & the new acrylic crystal. The dial & hands are very nicely aged with a beautiful patina while the movement was stripped and overhauled 2 years ago by our technician and regularly wound up since. You'll see that the movement sparkles rather well till date, especially for the rotor. The gold hands have lost some of it's tritium but it's quite impossible to see that with naked eyes & they most definitely don't glow in darkness anymore. The accompanying gold plated buckle is an original vintage for the US market which is quite valuable now. Please bear in mind that this watch has lost it's chronometer spec timing & is most certainly not waterproof anymore so don't even let it get wet when you wash your hands!

The beauty of this watch lies in it's bulbous solid gold Oyster case with that protruding back which earned it's nick-name. Most importantly, the dial with all those gold faceted dagger indexes sparkling under the light is quite a treat even today, some 60years after it's birth and they don't make such hands anymore. Vintage Rolexes have the round dot tail on their sweep centre seconds hand which is an icon of itself.

A beautiful vintage in automatic & solid gold that's quite easy on the wallet but look at it's charming good looks!
