A very pretty and rare watch dating back to 1940s, this vintage Vacheron Constantin is housed in a solid & heavy 18ct yellow gold case.

We acquired this watch in 2012 and it has since been kept in our vault and is now offered for sale. The movement has just been completely overhauled by our chief technician in April 2019 so it is well lubed and regulated.

These early hi-end watch makers had hard enamel on their dials where the dial plate was engraved and filled with black enamel then polished and brushed before being silvered, lacquered and yellow gold appliqué fixed on. The 18ct gold hallmarks of the case are clearly visible on the case band and lugs as shown in pics and crowns were unsigned in pre-1950s era. The acrylic crystal is convex and good while the case has been lightly polished over the years. The back cover shows some uneven protrusions on the surface that would've been dented by owners when they accidentally pressed onto something harder and quite a common issue on soft gold watches. Movement is very well made and shines brightly for a 70+ old watch. The 3B in the Calibre 458 is distinguished by the fine pitch-fork regulator. Overall, a beautiful vintage timepiece in excellent condition in rather generous size that has 18mm lug sizes instead of the usual 16mm.

In recent years, this brand has seen a strong revival with little discounts given on the new watches and resale values have strengthened. The factory has also introduced a restoration department and selling their vintages from VC boutiques so we have a strong support for vintages but at a cost. The application for archive certificate alone costs over S$1K.
