This Ref.3372 dates back to 1944 when WWII was in raging on in the favour of Allied forces.

Rolex Oyster Perpetual "bubble-back" is a moniker earned from it's bulbous screw-lock back cover to accommodate the automatic winding rotor. This watch comes in a 2pc steel Oyster case with a 9ct pink gold engine-turned bezel capped over the steel body. The dial is an old refinish and the tritium from the hands have even burnt onto the copper tone surface, giving it a beautiful patina. The  blued steel Mercedes set of hands are original while the sweep center seconds is of a beautiful sword shape.

It has the original and precious pink gold capped screw-lock crown signed Rolex Oyster. The case back unscrews to reveal a pristine movement.

The back cover bears inscription of A.L. Roberts A.F. 30546144 which could be an Air Force serviceman number.

The movement is in very good condition and the rotor winds on a single direction as it should. This is the first automatic movement by Rolex and the first commercially successful automatic watch in the world when launched in the 1930s. An icon and an important model to collect from Rolex but they were small watches as men in those years wore 30mm timepieces.
