One owner's watch purchased new from a Cartier retailer in Hong Kong. Watch is in excellent, original condition & never polished so it has never been opened or molested. There are no major dents & only some very mild scratches on the polished bezel & buckle areas but these can be easily polished away to look new again. The brushed side case is in superb condition & the profile of the watch is as new from factory with perfect glass & the blue cabochon. We're offering a one-time free polish on this watch for you within a year of purchase.

The Cartier Santos Dumont collection is named after the father of aviation, a Brazilian Alberto S. Dumont who lived in France from 1891 to 1928. He was an aviator pioneer having designed and made several airships and planes that he flew personally which achieved world records and gained him great fame. However, it was difficult for him to read time from pocket watches while piloting so he asked his friend, Louis Cartier (Founder of Cartier) for a wristwatch to be worn and the Santos watch was born in 1904. It would accompany Alberto throughout his flights.

This watch subsequently became the first commercially available wristwatch and has since been named after the aviator.
