About This Watch

Pre-owned. Comes with orig. large wooden box (no outer box), manual & undated paper.

Ah yes, the Reverso Art Deco. Many of you may not heard or even seen this but this was one of the most beautiful Reverso ever made by Jaeger LeCoultre in the 1990s. As usual, the watch shows all the features of an Art Deco inspired watch which is a timeless classic beauty itself.

Upon reversing the watch, you are greeted by a rectangular glass which reveals one of the most exquisite movements ever made. The movement is the usual calibre 822 but with the initials AD given, identifying it as Art Deco and it has 134 parts. The bridges are skeletonised into evocative Art Nouveau curves and hand engraved then held onto the base plate by blued steel screws that were heated to few hundred degree celcius. Even the mainspring drum's plate had been cut opened to show the JLC logos in unison and as you wind up the watch, you can witness this brushed steel gear spinning like a cart-wheel underneath the pink gold bridges. Only about a dozen of these left the factory in a month back then, making it very exclusive & very collectable now.

This watch was very expensive in it's days & collectors were known to pay up to S$30K for one but even then, it was not readily available as you can see how many painstaking hours were put into making one such watch. We've sold several pieces including this white gold version but it has been many years since we've seen another so we are quite delighted to offer this watch now. The solid white gold case has some light wear but nothing a polish cannot help while the original strap shows some use.
