About This Watch

New Old Stock. This is a rare collector's item made in 1994 & comes with full original packaging influenced by the Bauhaus movement, paper etc. Watch has never been used & kept as a collection. This is the only timepiece from this edition we have seen till date and it is all complete & unworn. Although this is not a complication, precious metal or high-end brand, it is an icon in the history of wristwatches and the DNA remains in the current Movado collection.

This watch is the exact replica of the original "Museum" watch prototype designed by American Nathan George Howitt in 1947. Only 1919 pcs (numbered on back cover) were made to celebrate the 75th Anniversary on the founding of the Bauhaus School of Design in Weimar, Germany. Bauhaus philosophy is the foundation of modernism and influenced art, furniture, architecture etc & their works can be found in many parts of the world.

The Movado Musuem watch is the first watch to be included in the New York's Musuem of Modern Art as a permanent display in 1960. The bold dot @ 12 is to symbolise the Sun @ high noon & was conceptualised in 1947. It shows that good design transcents through times. A new series of Musuem watch has been launched featuring tourbillons etc on the back of the watch.
