About This Watch

Vintage. No box/papers.

An attractive vintage Omega from our vault. This watch shows time only and does not have a model name but it has a manual winding movement that features a sweep center seconds in red while the calibre is a coveted in-direct center seconds calibre. The steel case has a set of beautiful curved bombé lugs and has been lightly polished to a perfect finish. The screw-lock back cover, a desirable feature over the snap-backs is in fantastic condition and showing little signs of corrosion upon opening which is a delight. The pink-gold gilt movement has oxidised & showing brass with age but presents very well and free from rust or scratches which can be related to the optimum condition of the water-proof case that kept moisture out. (This watch is most certainly not water-resistant now)

The original dial is in matt ivory-white with a honey-comb texture and as usual, has some bright marks on the tips of the texture due to age but they can be hardly seen with our naked eyes so it presents very well. Applied Pink gold gilt pyramid-daggers and batons mark the hours and the lume dots have turned black over time. The lume on the hands are modern application but doesn't glow like a street lamp which is better. Otherwise, it is irritating to see new bright lume on a vintage watch. A new black strap has been fitted and you can always have it changed to your taste.

Overall, this Omega is a very handsome timepiece in utmost simplicity with a pretty case in tip-top condition. A charming watch that won't break your wallet and has a story to share. Very few watches from 1954 have survived as well as this.
