A beautiful solid gold watch by Tiffany & Co of New Yok. This watch has a presentation engraving on the back bearing "David from Rowie April 4 1946" so this watch was given to David barely 6 months after WW2 ended.

This watch is fitted with a very high quality movement by CH Meylan & exquisitely finished which rivals the best Swiss watchmakers it's the time. The silvered dial is in excellent condition bearing a few old marks and has full Arabic numerals in appliqué gold which adds a touch of luxury. The rectangular case has unusually long lugs that facet, point down and has bars across to support the strap from behind so there won't be over-bending of the strap when worn. The 2pc case is hinged to open or close and the back cover holds the movement like a cradle, a clever design and an effort by the designer. Overall condition is very good and ready to wear bearing in mind never to expose these to water nor dropping it as there's no shock-resisting protection on the balance but you shouldn't be dropping your watches.

This watch is unlikely to be mass produced, unique and perhaps even a commissioned timepiece by their client back in the 1940s. It is also cased in a higher value 18ct gold instead of the common 14ct gold case for Amercian market. Watch works very well and movement is in as-new condition which shows that it has been a cherished example for over seven decades.

Founded 1878 in Le Brassus by Ch.H. Meylan. Charles-Henri Meylan is a highly esteemed and eminent watchmaker who worked in both Switzerland and America. He manufactured his own line of watches under the name C. H. Meylan, Brassus and also collaborated with the American Waltham Watch Co. Meylan held three American patents which protected his innovative repeater designs that were used in the rare Waltham repeaters.
