A very elegant Vacheron & Constantin dating back to 1920, this watch is housed in a solid 18ct yellow gold cushion case with scrolled lugs and fitted with a high quality movement. The original dial shows ageing but presents very well and has a small seconds. This watch is similar to the Historiques American 1921 which shares the same cushion case but with a tilted dial and is a reproduction of the original from the same era to our watch here but the modern equivalent sells for a staggering S$54000.00

On the back cover of this watch, there is an engraved Coat of Arms featuring a falcon with upright wings sitting on a crown and a banner underneath bearing the word STEADY. This watch would have a royal family's provenance due to the presence of a crown which is very desirable. There are not many Coat of Arms on watches, most belong to nobles featuring a knight's helmet and very few come with a crown but we don't have further literature so this would be an adventure for you to research on.

The small proportion reflects the time when men wore small watches and it has 15mm lug size. You can custom a bund style leather strap with an enlarged backing supporting the case so it becomes suitable for modern context.

According to the production numbers of the movement, this watch is a century old now. It takes about 15 to 17 winds on the crown to fully wind it up and keeps time for daily use. It is generally in very good condition throughout with a thick 18ct case so it has weight. The movement is in excellent order as seen in the images and the strap is a new replacement. A classic VC box in leather accompanies this watch.
