This captivating beauty is based on the original design & dimensions of a 1945 Louis Cottier creation. The case is in solid 18ct yellow gold & fitted with an automatic movement. This is a highly collectible timepiece as Svend Andersen is a well regarded independent watchmaker from the prestigious AHCI & watches from this association are not just exclusive in numbers but usually expansive in monetary terms so it is delightful to find one for so little money now. If you noticed, the certificate bears his actual autograph and not many watches out there are signed by the watch makers now which shows that this is one of those handful of handmade watches.

Andersen is famous for bringing us those automaton erotic watches but his Worldtimers are equally well known executions so here it is, a Communication no.5 that was inspired by the original from 1940s, a time when men wear small watches.

Please bear in mind that this watch only measures 32mm across the bezel.

In 1946, some wealthy Geneva residents commissioned Mr Cottier, the inventor of world-time mechanism to build of few pieces of this wristwatch and gave them to the leaders of the Allied Forces as a token of appreciation for ending WW2. So, Presidents Truman, Charles DeGaulle, Winston Churchill & of course Joseph Stalin were each given one such watch.

A total of just 455pieces of this world-time watches were made by Cottier and some were contracted by Agassiz, Vacheron Constantin, Patek Philippe & even Rolex. So, here we have a modern recreation of it again with an automatic movement & sapphire glass for convenience.
