This Ref.425 was launched in 1934 and made in a variety of configurations in gold and platinum with production ending in 1971 which was a very long life span of 37 years for a watch model. Along with the iconic Calatrava reference 96, the reference 425 is considered as one of the most popular vintage models by Patek Philippe.

This rectangular watch was nicknamed Tegolino with it's resemblance to an Italian snack usually topped with chocolate.

Our watch here has been restored earlier with the case polished and the enameled (words) on the dial refurbished. The case has been carefully polished to factory specs and movement serviced. It takes about 20 winds to full and keeps time. It has an original signed crown while a period correct faceted acrylic crystal is fitted. These faceted crystals were very fashionable in the 1930s to 50s especially in North American market and only appeared on the rectangular or square watches. The form shaped movement is in excellent condition as seen and both the serial nos for it and the case are very nice. Patek probably paid attention to selected nos for their most esteemed watches in platinum. Further details are the last 3 digits of the serial numbers stamped on the inside of the upper case which matches the bottom and is a common practice by manufacturers for identification.

This is an important watch for vintage Patek collectors and Platinum case with diamond dial is ranked as the top-of-the-range for most watch makers.
