About This Watch

Neo-classic. Comes with orig. boxes and paper.

This is a very rare model that is coming to thirty years old and earning it's place in cult status. The Santos is reputed to be the first wrist watch conceived by Louis Cartier in 1904 for his Brazilian friend Alberto Santos Dumont and the watch would accompany him for his pioneering flights in the skies.

This Octagon Santos was conceived in early 1990s and solid gold examples rarely surface as they were expensive watches costing more than the Rolex equivalent, hence few buyers purchase them especially in Asia while these models are prized in Europe. We have sold several solid gold Cartier Santos to London in the early 2000 and some came with precious stones.

The Octagon remains a one-time production since and has not been revived while some refer it to the Feng Shui watch in honour of it's eight sided trigrams that represents Heaven, Earth, Water, Fire, Wind, Thunder, Mountain and Lake. These Eight Trigrams are arranged into their opposites, forming an octagon called Bagua.

Our example here is a single owner's watch from new and watch has never been polished (*except for the buckle). It is in admirable condition for it's age, retaining the original factory finish and shows the usual surface wear but no major dents nor scratches so we're keeping it as is to preserve it's authenticity. The bracelet is in very good condition but only fits 16cm and smaller wrist as we do not have spare links. *We did a light brushing to the buckle only and polished the white gold double C logo to make it presentable.

Today, this timeless classic in 30mm is trending again for gents that collect vintages and it fits right in place as vintage Rolex Bubble-backs are making a comeback again. For ladies, this is the perfect watch that represents style with class. A rare opportunity not to be missed.

The current medium sized Santos in gold with bracelet retails for S$46,100.00 & other similar gold Tank de Santos of this era sells for over S$20K so our watch represents a very good deal and the octagon is far more desirable.
