About This Watch

Antique. No box or papers. This gorgeous Waltham railway pocket watch dates back to 1935 & is fitted with a very high grade "Vanguard" movement with 23 jewels & diamond end-stone while all the jewels were set in gold as well. The movement is hand decorated with patterns & known as demakeening. The white enamel dial is in perfect condition & original crown+bow. It is fitted with a new clear plastic crystal. The bezel & back cover locks perfectly & timing is good. The case has no major dents or scratches and has the usual surface micro hairlines throughout but nothing major. The typical large black Arabic nos on the white enamelled dial is a joy to look @.

Cased by Keystone & numbered. Railway watches are among some of the best watches as precision timing is crucial so the movements are often highly jewelled & timed in various positions like chronometers.

History: Waltham is also commonly known as American Waltham Watch Co.  or AWWC as like most early American watch companies, they went through many partnerships & name changes but history is from 1851-1957. The name was simplified to Waltham Watch Co. in 1906.
